Guitarist David Matyas became captivated by flamenco after seeing the master of flamenco guitar, Paco de Lucia, perform in Calgary several years ago.David has since been to Spain on several occasions to study flamenco guitar, most recently this summer. David has been performing in Calgary with Annette Morcos' flamenco group Salero Calo, and with flamenco dancer Rosanna Terracciano. David's shows have also involved playing flamenco accompaniment for students of the School of Alberta Ballet at the University of Calgary Theatre under the guidance of Claudia Carolina, one of the leading flamenco dance teachers in Canada. He is currently studying with the well-known Calgary-based flamenco guitarist, Peter Knight. More recent performances have included Rosanna Terracciano's production "Back from Spain" August of this year at the Auburn Saloon in Calgary.
